ON DREAMS

Someone mentioned daydream in there blog. would you consider it unconscious or conscious. when we daydream, which is a visionary fantasy it's normally about happy and pleasant thoughts, sometimes its hoping or imagining something coming to pass. what fascinates me though is that i cannot recall having a bad daydream and for the most part you are awake and your eyes wide open. you cant say its your imagination run wild because for the most part its done with you having knowledge of it how is it though it always end on a good note and why is it more frequent when we're bored? what is a daydream really telling us do we really control the outcome? did frued say anything on this topic. weigh in.

  1. I suppose it would depend...some daydreams are pretty conscious, but perhaps there are also some where we tap into other things...thoughts that come "unbidden?" There is an essay by Freud on day dreaming in the collection The Uncanny. I confess its been a long time since I looked at it, but maybe you want to take a peek?
